Dr Fong Kee Siew

Formerly the Head of Oculoplastics Department at the Singapore National Eye Centre, Dr Fong Kee Siew is a recognised leader in her area of sub-specialty. She is a Consultant Eye Surgeon subspecialising in eyelid, orbit and lacrimal surgery and cataract and a Visiting Senior Consultant to the Singapore National Eye Centre and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She is also Senior Clinical Lecture at the National University of Singapore.

After graduating from medical school at the National University of Singapore in 1986 and obtaining her specialist degree in Ophthalmology in 1993, she went for her sub-specialty training in diseases of the orbit, eyelid and tear drainage system at the Sydney Eye Hospital in Australia on a scholarship from the Singapore Government. Dr Fong’s expertise encompasses surgery of the eyelids, tear drainage system and orbit including surgery for droopy eyelids and eyebags.

As Secretary of the Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from 2005 to 2006, Dr Fong is actively involved in skills transfer courses on ptosis or droopy eyelids, malpositioned eyelids and tearing problems to train other eye surgeons in the Asia Pacific region as well as in the American academy of Ophthalmology. She has published more than 20 papers, with many in peer reviewed scientific journals and is a reviewer for the Annals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore as well as Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, the foremost scientific journal for investigative vision research in the world.
