Dr. Heng Li Wei

Dr Heng Li Wei is a Consultant Ophthalmologist, subspecializing in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the eyelids, lacrimal system and orbit. She is also well-versed in General Ophthalmology, dealing with common conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, dry eyes etc.

She completed her medical school education at National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2003, and was conferred the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) degree in 2008. She attained Fellowship with The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Ophthalmology) in 2012 and is also a Fellow with the Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Dr Heng was awarded the Singapore Ministry of Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship in 2013 and subsequently underwent a 12-months clinical fellowship at the McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She completed her Fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive and Orbital Surgery under the mentorship of Clinical Assistant Professor Yasser Khan and Professor John Harvey.

She was formerly a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and currently serving as a Visiting Consultant to the Ophthalmology Department at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She was previously actively involved in the teaching of medical students from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore) and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (Nanyang University of Singapore). She is also active in the teaching of the Ophthalmology residents at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and enjoys being able to impart her knowledge and surgical skills to the residents.

Beyond work, she is an avid trekker who loves the outdoors and the mountains, having trekked Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal, and Tour du Mont Blanc previously, to name a few. She is also an enthusiast in dog sports, dog training and is an aspiring canine behaviourist.
